Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) Agar supplemented with 7% Sheep Blood, Chloramphenicol, and Gentamicin produces a selective medium utilized for the isolation of pathogenic fungi from specimens contaminated with bacteria. Gentamicin inhibits the growth of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antimicrobic that also inhibits a range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. MacConkey (MAC) Agar with Levofloxacin and Cefotaxime is a selective and differential medium used for the detection and isolation of Gram-negative enteric bacilli. Levofloxacin is an antibiotic used to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive organisms. Ampicillin is a ß-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis by inactivating transpeptidases on the inner surface of the bacterial cell membrane. Pseudomonas P, or Tech Agar, enhances pyocyanin production by Pseudomonas and therefore used for the differentiation of pseudomonads. Also known as Pseudosel Agar, Cetrimide Agar is used as a selective isolation and identification media for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. LB Agar, Lennox L, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli. LB Agar, Lennox contains half the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Miller formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Lennox plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. Used as an industry standard for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli and for the preparation of plasmid DNA, MOLTOX offers a large selection of LB Agars and Broths with plenty of added antibiotics to choose from for a more selective media.
